Meg Smith Honestly, I take nootropics, there's a product called Brain Gains which is full of nutritional supplements for your brain and it really gives me an edge because I find that writer's block (for me at least) has more to do with a lack of energy than a lack of inspiration. However, you have to be disciplined and you have to write every day, set a minimum word count that you must reach, like 300 words and get it done, you will often find that you go further once you get started but if you only do the minimum its better than nothing. In terms of not knowing what to write or being stuck with a story, skip ahead, I've done that a few times where I've not really been sure on how to progress but I have a goal or future scene in my head, so I just write that and carry on until I've thought of a way to connect the dots.
Cliffnotes:
- Take nootropics
- Write a daily minimum wordcount
- Skip ahead
Meg Smith Being able to escape from reality in a world I have created. I'm also a professional copywriter so its really all I do and I keep my own hours and don't have to go into an office every day, my life is really flexible and I love that.
Meg Smith Just start. Put something down on paper, doesn't have to be good or even well written, that's what rewrites and editing are for, but just start, let it flow as it comes to you, don't try to make sense of it, let the words take you on a journey and see where you end up.
Meg Smith I Have just started writing Volume.III of the Chronicles of Jackal and Rabbit, I think this book is going to be much longer than the first 2 and I plan on taking a very long time to write it.
Meg Smith I'm a painter actually, and I had this scene in my head, but it would have made a shitty painting, so I wrote it, that scene is now Chapter 3 in my first book, The Chronicles of Jackal and Rabbit Volume.I
Meg Smith My most recent book, The Chronicles of Jackal and Rabbit Volume.II is a continuation of Volume.I but the idea came to me when my I was starting out an LDR with my now husband who is in the US Army and it was a way for us to be together while far apart.
