*Have a trusted friend who loves to read give you constructive criticism.
*Marry an English major.
*Read and write a lot.
*Understand that each story is practice if nothing else. It's okay if it never gets published. Write another one. Write a better one.
*Don't limit yourself to one genre.
*Make time to write if you really want to. There will always be another show to watch. You will never catch up. If you want to write, you have to dedicate yourself to it.
*Write the story that you've been wanting to read.

From a song with the same title by the talented Azusa. Interstellar Islands made me think of little islands floating in space like asteroids that were terraformed.
