Darius Andaya Feelings inspires me to write. It could come from an immense and intense feeling of love, sadness, happiness, anger, pity, etc. When I get these, I am one of those who instead of saying it, I write. When I wrote I Too Can Be Special!, it was out of an intense feeling of inspiration and love.
Darius Andaya My son, Darryl, who has downsyndrome and also illustrated this book. His speech difficulties makes it hard for him to communicate and I thought since he can't talk well, what if I talk for him. The book is all about his thoughts as I understand it. I went a step further and communicated it in poetry form. As William Wordsworth said, poetry is the spontaneous flow of powerful feelings. I've never met anyone with so much overflow of positive and inspirational feelings.
