Writing "Mindset Mondays with DTK" is a natural evolution of a weekly live broadcast series I started around Groundhog Day 2018. Mindset Mondays is a 10-15 minute conversation designed for folk with a growth mindset or for those who'd like to develop one. It's a place to play with new ideas, experiment with new ways of thinking, and try on new mindsets.
The plan had always included a book (in theory, that is). But I was NEVER excited about the idea. And then I started getting feedback from folk who came to the live broadcast or watched them in the following weeks.
It's their reaction that inspired me to write the book. If these little broadcasts could have such a positive and powerful impact, then a book to do more for more people. That's why I've included the voices of the participants and the stories of some of my clients in the book.

I wrote this book because, for me, it’s a powerful reminder that when I change the lens through which I see the world, or when I change my mindset, I change the way I experience the world. When I began to see a book as a way to increase my impact footprint, then the book became something that inspired me (rather than triggering dread).

Read Austin Kleon's book "Show Your Work." Build your body of work. Share it with the world as it emerges. Assess the impact. Tweak and shift accordingly. And, as you continue to produce, your book begins to shape itself.
And read the article "Amanda Palmer on the Art of Asking and What Thoreau Teaches Us about Accepting Love" ... what I want for you aspiring writers, is to, as Amanda Palmer would say: learn how to "take the f'n donuts!"

The best thing about being a write, by far, is that I can dramatically increase my impact footprint. A book and all of the material that is created around and because of it, enable me to reach far more people and help them shift their lives. As a coach, there are only so many people I can reach in a given day, week, month, or year. A book dramatically extends that reach...

I have TWO tools for dealing with writer's block:
(1) Co-creativity: I dive into creative conversations with a gathering of fabulous people in my life. We bounce around ideas and see what emerges (a la James Altucher's "Idea Sex").
(2) The Creative Block: An amazing tool from BrainChild Coaching (breakthroughblocks.co) that helps fire up my thinking!

I thought I was living the Good Life. Turns out I was actually living the "Should Life" ... and it almost killed me.
