I am currently working on a four book romance series. Starring a pirate captain who's hiding from his past, as well as being half-kraken, and a young woman who is running away from the standards of society in 1714. Oh, she's also half-mermaid, but doesn't know it.
There are ship battles, hidden treasure, tattoos, and of course, kissing! I'm hoping to get the first draft of book two and three done this year.

I try to maintain a consistent schedule by writing at the same time every day. Sometimes there are bad days where every word is a struggle, but I don't give up and do whatever I can during my scheduled time.
For me it's also important to know where I'm going in the story. There can't be any writer's block if I have a clear goal for each chapter.

I think the best piece of advise is to read as many books as you can, and write as many words as you can. For me, the only way to get better is to write, edit, and then write some more. If you don't do the thing, you can't get better at the thing!
