I got the idea for Solidarity: Finding solidarity in heartbreak, anxiety & depression from my own personal heartbreak. I was so lost, anxious, depressed, and filled to the brim with emotions, I needed to get them out. Poetry was a cathartic experience and an important part of my healing process.

I get inspired to write by jotting down emotions, feelings, and thoughts that I have throughout the day in a notebook or on my phone. It could be a fleeting thought in the shower that I will quickly scribble out. When I'm sitting down to write a poem later, I will reread those feelings for inspiration.

When dealing with writer's block, I like to get away from the computer or notebook for a while. I will make a cup of tea, put on funny Youtube videos, take my dog for a walk, or just sit outside.
