I love the Halloween Bookshop Mystery Books! Just finished Mayhem at a Halloween Wedding. At the end of the book, there is an excerpt about Hysteria at the Historical Society book but I cannot find the book anywhere. Can you tell me if it's the next in the series and maybe just not out yet? Thanks!
Emmeline Duncan Hi Tammy! Hysteria at the Historical Society is the third Halloween Bookshop Mystery, and it will come out in 2026. My guess is it will come out at the end of July.

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?
Emmeline Duncan IIt's not a personal-to-me mystery, but I've always been fascinated by the DB Cooper hijacking. For anyone who hasn't heard the story, Cooper hijacked a plane flying between Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, in 1971. The FBI paid the ransom. Cooper skydived out of the plane with the money . . . and has never been caught. Some of the money was found in 1980 on a sandbar in the Columbia River, but no one knows if Cooper survived or who he really was.

If you for some reason you couldn't write mystery any more, what genre or topic would you take on next?
Emmeline Duncan One fun thing about this question: I could happily argue every novel is, at least partially, a mystery! But if my next book absolutely had to be in another genre, I'd play around with urban fantasy. Or maybe a romance!

Supposedly on March 4th a book was shipped to me as a winner of the give-away. It is now May 6th and I have not received it. Although Goodreads seems to think that I have. Where is my book?

Emmeline Duncan Read widely, including in areas that aren't your first choice. You can learn a lot about what makes an excellent novel by analyzing different genres and seeing what works for you.
