The idea for The High Cost of a Free Gift came from a session on the works of Christ in a Systematic Theology class that I was teaching. As we were discussing the humiliation and exaltation of Christ it occurred to me that I have read very few books that look at the subject of salvation from the viewpoint of what it cost God.
