Angela, I just read your blog post about the likeability issue with your memoir. Have you considered that snarky, bitchy, and assertive could win readers' hearts?

Angela Lam Hmm...good suggestion. I don't know if I have a snarky, bitchy, or assertive voice. I'm definitely not a snarky, bitchy, or assertive woman. But I will keep this thought in mind as I ponder how to proceed. Thank you.

If you could travel to any fictional book world, where would you go and what would you do there?

Angela Lam I would visit Prince Edward Island and go to Lofty John's bush where Emily would meet Teddy in Lucy Maud Montgomery's Emily books.

What are your hopes for your writing?

Angela Lam I have so many hopes for my writing, from the unrealistic (to be a bestseller) to the more mundane (tell a good, solid story).

Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Angela Lam Luke Brandon and Becky Bloomwood Brandon because they are so strikingly different yet so committed to understanding and supporting each other that it gives me hope that happily-ever-after can exist.

How do you get inspired to write?

Angela Lam I let the feelings percolate inside until they bubble over into words.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Angela Lam The Human Act is a collection of short stories written over 20 years. Each story has its own inspiration. "A Cut Above" was inspired by my sister's tales of working as a hairdresser. "Fistful of Love" was inspired by a real life woman who endured domestic violence.
