The Delivery Co. came from the question, "What would happen if the government decided that those of us who have a pre-existing condition, a disability or chronic illness, were not fit to live in society?" From there, I expanded on that and built characters that would oppose that idea, fighting for their right to be a part of the world together, for equality.
It's also important for me to have a good representation of disability and illness, be it invisible or otherwise, in fiction, especially young adult. I feel that there is a lack of such representation and I have done the research and consulted the right people to make sure that the representation I have included is true. I also draw from my own experiences, as I am one of those with a chronic, (mostly) invisible illness.
