Geoff Major Go for a walk; wash dishes (yes, seriously) or sometimes the 20 minutes before sleep is a great time to just let my mind wander.

But it's usually if I wash dishes. Weird, I know ... and don't tell my wife!
Geoff Major Either take a complete break for a week (as I have a very full-time day job anyway), or get an A3 scribble pad out and just jot down whatever is in my head.

Usually, if it's frantic spaghetti in there, I can see the thread.

Key thing, for me at least, is don't rush it. I've set my own deadlines (no pun intended) and I can amend them.
Geoff Major I'm now working on my third book: it's a sequel to HELL HATH NO FURY.

I've just sent draft chapters 1-30 to my Reader Review Panel, for their comments. I find that's a great way to check whether what I'm writing, flows (and they spot my accidental spilling mushtakes, too).
Geoff Major The idea for HELL HATH NO FURY was sudden and overwhelming.

I was stood at the kitchen sink, cleaning a dishwasher-unfriendly pan, when I heard a young child nearby having a screaming tantrum because it couldn’t get what it wanted. The more the parents said no, the more it screamed.

My peaceful afternoon, with the sun shining and the birds twittering in the garden, morphed into me wondering what lengths a person would go to, to get their own way?
