I am about 20% into the next title, which will be very different than Grimm. Though Grimm pulls from the spiritual aspect of my tai chi background, the next title will focus more on the martial aspects of it and feature prominently the code that goes with that.

No idea is too big to fail, no idea is too small to discard. As you write, stop, and then read what you wrote. If you don't have moments where you say to yourself "damn that's good". Then you might want to ask yourself "Is this the right thing for the story?"

Back up, if you're stuck it's probably because you made a mistake within the last 1000 words or so. When you take the wrong path you have to backtrack to the intersection and continue again on the right one.
