Write for yourself. Reviews and Criticism show just as much about the reviewer as the writer. I can have one person telling me how terrible one scene is and the next day someone telling me how great it is to them. We are all on different levels of this journey. People actually care about grammar, we can't get around it...Ugg....Learn to write in a clear way that shows yourself.

Crooked Creek shows the Tyrant King and Queen and the feeble subject. I think the way we get treated today by corporations or crazy HOA's is everywhere today. I tried to shine a light on it in a funny way. A writer I know referred to me as Sardonic. I like that. I think that is my voice. If you like that kind of humor, you will love this book. That or if you are a writer yourself and struggle with writer's block.
