The idea began with the death of my mother in 2003. But then it became obvious it was going to be about much more than that. I had a yearning to share the experiences that I and peopleI knew had had - about suffering, evil, death, the miraculous - and as I interviewed people and wove their stories into my own journey, I realised that the book was not just a gift for my own children, but hopefully of assistance to many asking the why questions we tend to ask.
