Victoria Ventris Shea My sister's foster son died in his 30's. Some say "suicide," some say no. It's the subject of my next book, ANCESTORS OF THE WHALE.
Victoria Ventris Shea I would like to hang out with Claire in her garden in Outlander. I think her spunkiness and practical outlook would be refreshing.
Victoria Ventris Shea I haven't' had writer's block yet. I usually have a plan, but if I don't know what comes next, I just put my computer on my lap and my fingers on the keys and start typing whatever comes to mind. Surprisingly, it is usually something worth keeping! Don't know why.
Victoria Ventris Shea Creative expression. I think we all need a creative outlet to be emotionally healthy and writing is mine.
Victoria Ventris Shea Keep editing and edit again and again. You'll think it's good, but you can make it better. Give it a good break between reads and you will be surprised how much you can improve.
Victoria Ventris Shea Right now I am beginning my social media presence, which I have not had before, in order to market SHAGOON. I am anxious to begin on the next book which will require a bit more research first: THE GANG'S ALL HERE about prohibition. My grandfather was a bootlegger and grandma was active in the Temperance Movement, so I think it will be a lot of fun. Also, the lake cabin we lived in for years was originally built as a drinking place during prohibition. Boats transported drinkers to the dance halls.
Victoria Ventris Shea I love to write. To me, it is like going on vacation. Also, my characters become living, breathing people to me, people I care about and want to spend time with. When I don't know what to write, I just begin writing and something comes out, something that usually works so far!
Victoria Ventris Shea A psychic told me I had been a twin Alaskan Native American at one time and that my twin was still "on the other side." She recommended that I write about it. Research indicated that many Native cultures did not allow their twin babies to live, so I was compelled to continue to research and eventually write. (30 years ticked by between the psychic's message and the culmination of the book.)
