I haven't experienced this yet, it is likely too new in my writing career. However, reading books and watching movies in my genre provide me with ideas to add/enhance what I am writing.

Having a blank canvas in front of you, and being able to create whatever you want each scene. Sometimes my scenes reflect the mood I am in when I am writing it. I finish up a hard day's work at my office and I am in a pissed off mood, good chance someone is going to get knocked off in my writings that evening!

I had never tried creative writing before. Writing is not something that comes to me naturally. Thus, I read as many books in my genre as possible. I also read as many "how to" books as I could. Finally, I wrote up a project plan with my goals and objectives, and kept myself accountable on a weekly basis.

My second novel in the series - "The Syndicate's Deception". Mike Stanton is hired to audit a technology company looking for its fortune by taking the company public. Along the way, he uncovers a massive money-laundering scheme within the company, the disclosure of which will inhibit the company from going public and ownership collecting hundreds of millions. He also uncovers the true owners of the company, the Mob!

I was an Adjunct Professor at a local University teaching Auditing. All the students had the impression of public accounting being boring, but once I began describing some of the forensic cases I had worked on, they were on the edge of their seats. I figured if I created similar situations, and added some murder and sex, the makings of a successful thriller novel were there.
