Mix writing about what you love with writing for the market.
I know this doesn't sit well with those who would suggest that you have to "be true to yourself," but many authors find themselves discouraged because they have only paid attention to writing what is "on their heart," but have failed to consider what readers are interested in reading. If you can mix the two, you can find both satisfaction in what you write and satisfaction in the fact that people actually purchase what you are writing... to read.

I just start writing. Usually by about the third paragraph I start to make sense. Then I can just delete the first two paragraphs. :)
