April Waverly This all started with bagels. Something my mom and I craved while we were pregnant. This sparked and idea that I followed through 260 pages to tell a fictional story that celebrates in the bond between a mother and daughter.
April Waverly To drive the story where you want it to go. You can spend more time on characters you love and less on characters you don’t. You can decide the outcome of every interaction and step the character takes.
April Waverly Next book is tentatively called “Seeing Through Wings”. Without giving too much away it involves a very generous single woman who is in between careers that falls into a discovery at a mausoleum.
April Waverly I avoid the blocks. If I hit a place where I want to expand or find a better way to say something, I would just highlight the section or a leave a blank “____” to come back to. My inspiration was a living breathing thing so I was able to pull from myself and keep writing past any blocks.
April Waverly Write every idea down, everywhere you are. Just stop what you are doing and jot it down. I forget so many of my ideas before I get to my laptop to write and its so unfortunate.
April Waverly The smallest event would sink into my head and create a chapter. Usually with my daughter, but some from events that occurred during writing. There is a part of my book with a nauseating whale watching boat ride, that was unfortunately inspired by true events.
