Gavin Larsen Being a Ballerina was a slow build. It began as a series of essays reflecting on episodes or thoughts about my life as a dancer. Gradually, they accumulated and I began to piece them together, not intending a memoir, but simply an expression of what it means to be a dancer. The result IS a memoir, but still has the patchwork quilt quality of a book of short stories.

Gavin Larsen The Stationery Shop by Marjan Kamali, With a Daughter's Eye by Mary Catherine Bateson, At the Center of all Beauty by Fenton Johnson.
