What are you currently working on?
Mat Zucker I'm promoting the new book of course, but also in the background, I'm thinking about the next one. Working on the idea and seeing how much it might be part of a series pushing off the first one or totally independent. Either way, it needs an idea, an outline, and some work.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Mat Zucker It started as an exercise suggested by a career coach. He said to write a one-page summary of up to 10 different jobs you've had, and for each one, to write how you got it, what you did, what you learned, and why you left. I did this and found myself not only understanding some themes of my career (e.g. I leave out of discomfort if I can't control the circumstances) but remembering a lot of hilarious moments and great experiences. My book started as writing my resume backwards.
