I think it was Jilly Cooper who once said writing is about bums on seats. I am a great believer in that and in the maxim that writing is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration.

I'm currently writing Book 3 in The Shadow of the Raven Series which follows on directly from Book 2 (The warrior with the Pierced Heart). The working title is 'The Final Reckoning.'

Write about what you enjoy. Also, spend as much time thinking about your story as you do actually writing it. People will think you're not working when they can't hear the clatter of the keyboard but thinking about the story, talking to your characters and trying to put yourself in their shoes is, for me, always time well spent.

For me its all about the fulfilment of my lifelong ambition. Just to see and hold my published book is a great feeling, second only to the satisfaction I get when people tell me how much they've enjoyed reading it.

Fortunately, it's not something I suffer from very often. If I do, I tend to just start writing whatever comes into my head. Obviously most of that then needs to be discarded but eventually it seems to work.
