If you have an idea, just start writing it. You’ll have plenty of time to plan and structure it properly, but start by just getting something down on paper and see how you get on.

If I get writer’s block, it’s generally because I’m not excited by what I’m writing. So I take some time to reconsider the story. It’s no different from reading a book really - if what you’re writing is good, you’ll want to keep going.
