I'd like to go to one of the dystopian futures; Orwell's or Huxley's and warn them it's all going to go wrong.

Never take anything personally. Rejection is a bane of any writer. All we want is for people to read and like our work. Rejection should never be taken personally. Writing a book makes you incredibly vulnerable, the writers I know are some of the bravest people you'll meet, baring their souls to the world. Just remember there's always room the world for another story.

I'm currently developing the TV script for my book. It was something I wrote back in 2015 and was shortlisted for one of BAFTAs development schemes. Now that the book is out I am revisiting it and getting it ready for producers.

I am just a natural born observer. I'm always looking for inspiration. It can be hidden in the pages of a book, on the screen, or just on someones face as a moment of reflection or thought.

When I was seven I had to start wearing glasses. I was so uncomfortable about wearing them that I hid them in my desk at school. I thought it was the end of the world, I was miserable. This trauma stayed with me, but now I wear glasses and I love them. So I set myself a mission, with my two children who star in the book, to write about a hero who wears glasses and who is actually empowered by them; Oscar and his Spectacular Spectacles was born. I think there should be more heroes in glasses to show children that they don't have to be held back worrying about their image. It's ok to be a little bit different and you can still be a hero in specs!
