K.A. Masson I had some quite traumatic life events about ten years ago, and I felt the need to come to terms with them and understand them. Writing seemed like a sensible way to do that.
K.A. Masson By watching people, listening to the radio... sometimes I have ideas when I'm running or when I wake in the middle of the night!
K.A. Masson I'm super busy promoting Alter Ego at the moment, and with design work, but I have a new book forming in my head. I might make my second book a sequel to Alter Ego, with my main character, Alex Kendrew... it would be great to hear the thoughts of readers to see if they'd like to know what happened next.
K.A. Masson Just keep going! It took me four years to finish, and it felt like I was climbing a mountain, but I just kept going.
K.A. Masson I think the best thing about writing a book is the feeling of entering a completely new world... a bit like when you're reading a fantastic book!
K.A. Masson Gosh, this is a tough question! I have worked as a graphic designer for my entire career, so I've been lucky to combine my continued work as a designer with writing my book. On days when I struggled with writing, often because I was too tired, I decided to leave the manuscript until the next day, after a good night's sleep. Oh, gosh, if there's one thing that I need to have a good day's writing, it's eight hours' sleep, and not a minute less!
K.A. Masson I mainly spent my time reading, over and over again, my own book, Alter Ego, but I did have time to read Sarah Vincent's 'The Testament of Vida Tremayne'. Fantastic!
K.A. Masson My favourite place in the world is Florence, Italy, so I'd say there in the 1960s – à la 'Death in Florence' by Marco Vichi. Pre 20th century, I'm not sure it would have been a pleasant place for any woman, other than members of the nobility... perhaps not even them!
K.A. Masson Brexit and Covid. In the time of a Tory government.
