Raymond Maher The mystery was what to do when people only see the obvious. My High School years were about being invisible, being short and very young looking like just a kid, not a young adult.
Raymond Maher Research inspires me to write.
Raymond Maher I was inspired to write my most recent book from several sources. The first source was from where I live. Major highways are the names of roads built to reach the areas gold was being discovered in 1858 -9 and onward. I live near the Fraser River and I am inspired by its granger and history. I am a history major and explored some historic sites of the gold rush.
I read a true Church History from a gold rush town that gave a good picture of the people of the gold rush. I researched the leaders of the time and found which ones could be included in authentic ways with fictional characters. For me, inspiration is research and then creating a story that represents both truth and fiction in a story of substance and fun.
Raymond Maher Currently, I continue my weekly newspaper column. A sequel to, The Deadly Five, is brewing in my mind but I'm not able to do the research I need to do to have my historical facts correct. I build my stories around historic facts and events with my fictional and historic figures. Presently Covid 19 prevents the travel needed for my research
Raymond Maher Love to write and don't give up on yourself. Keep writing even when no one is wanting to read your work. Success is in yourself. Keep at it with a dream in your heart to become a writer that has a story of substance to share.
Raymond Maher You create what is uniquely yours. I find that I like to edit my work, say it better. There is great satisfaction in polishing your writing to the very best you can for you.
Raymond Maher I find exercise helps me refocus. Simple things like cutting the lawn, running errands, hobbies, etc. Forget or Ignore my writing works for me.
