Many years ago, I lived on a military base in Nova Scotia. According to the local legend, the Officers' Mess was haunted by the ghost of a heartbroken young woman. Some very sound-minded people refused to go into the Mess alone at night while others swore they heard noises or saw lights coming on and off when the building was deserted. I think that legend would make an awesome backdrop for my next mystery...

I often take small details or events from real life and extrapolate from there with ideas sprouting in my mind as it wonders "What if that had happened?", "Or this?", "Or that person did or said that?"...
My daughter is a scuba diver and one summer, she had fun exploring shipwrecks. Well, that gave me the idea of making my female heroine in Salvaged a scuba diver. As I wondered what kind of job could be pertinent for a scuba diver, I thought why not make my heroine an underwater investigator who looks at vehicles dumped in lake or river for insurance scam. Her life--and mine--changed the day she stumbled on a Model T.

A new romantic suspense that takes place into an electoral office. Secret romance, blackmail, abuse of power and much more. I titled it Voted Out. I'm about one-third done and I just "voted out" someone...permanently.
I just haven't decided yet if it'll be the first book of a new series or a stand-alone. I guess I'll have to wait further down the road to see if my characters want to come back
