Diane Rapp Work on another story from the "ideas file" and let the words flow.
Diane Rapp She spent four hours formatting her manuscript, painstakingly checking each page for the correct headers and footers. Just as she reached to click the save button, the computer screen flickered and all her work was lost. (A real-life horror story.)
Diane Rapp Quit thinking about writing that book and just get started! “Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.” (from Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland)
Diane Rapp I am working on a new mystery novel tentatively called "DNA Stalker" and doing my research. This novel will be a break out story for two of the characters originally cast as side characters in my High Seas Mystery Series. Natalia (the psychic stage performer) and her new beau, Jason (formerly Steven's partner at Interpol) will provide security for a chartered cruise. A company who does DNA testing to search for family members is worried when a break-in provides access to their data. This story will also take place at sea but the series may not remain on cruise ships.
Diane Rapp This book is designed to copy/print the game pieces and play in small groups at home. One game was designed as a meet-and-greet game for groups up to 57. Visit my blog starting Monday 2/20 to play an online version with me. I will post one clue per day on Twitter and Facebook and give away prizes to the first few that get the right solution. Diane Rapp Richard Castle and Kate Beckett are definitely my favorite fictional couple. The story lines were fascinating and the character interaction kept my attention so well that I am willing to watch reruns. I miss the show.
Diane Rapp This book contains telepathic wolves interacting with humans on a distant planet. The main wolf is a male named Kriegen but he does have a mate named Tendra. There is a whole pack that interacts with the humans. In the second book the she-wolf features is named Amber. She bravely helps the daughter of Krystal escape danger. The Alphas is a prequel that takes place on Earth and introduces telepathic wolves and dogs who later journey to Drako.
Diane Rapp I read my favorite authors in the specific genre. To get in the mood to write sci-fantasy, I read DRAGON RIDERS OF PERN series by Anne McCafferey. When I plan to work on a mystery, I read Agatha Christie or Arthur Conan Doyle.
Diane Rapp Micki, No I don't write urban fantasy. One of my books, THE HAVENSHIRE RESISTANCE, mentions a shape-shifter but only as a result of my character's relationship with her animal friends. She played games that made it seem like she was a shifter. My sci-fantasy series, starting with THE ALPHAS prequel, features telepathic wolves and later dragons. Plenty of sentient animals that people grow to love.
Diane Rapp My latest book DRAGON KNIGHT came about when I started wondering how a dragon would feel if he were turned into a knight. I also promised to write something for my granddaughter, so I put in a young sorceress who didn't study her spells but needed to do magic to save the kingdom. The idea of the dead musicians being forced to sing for the demon popped into my head and Jimmy Buffett is one of my favorite singers. I wanted the story to have funny elements. Mix them all together and you get a fairy tale that adults might enjoy reading to kids.
