I can't really say. I've always had the vague idea for it since I was 12 or so. It's changed in a lot of ways, but the bones are still the same. I've always loved fantasy books, so I just knew I had to create my own world one day.

Sometimes listening to certain music or songs will spark an idea in my head. I like to imagine a scenario for my characters and daydream about it sometimes. Some of my favorite moments in The Shifter came from both of these!

It's using your imagination as an adult and not being judged for it. I always feel happy when I'm writing too.

Start writing what makes you excited to read! Plan it out if you can, but try not to edit as you go. You'll never finish it if you keep going back to what you just wrote. Trust me, there's plenty of time to edit when you finish the first draft. Have fun with it!

It's good to take a step back from your work for a couple of days and recharge. That way, the next time you go back to your writing, it doesn't feel like a chore. I also like to brainstorm and write down ideas for other parts of the story. It helps me get excited about what's to come and where to go from the point I'm having trouble with.
