Rob Edwards I don't.
My inspiration is in simply tellng stories.
My social media title is RobEdwardsStoryteller as opposed to RobEdwardsWriter or RobEdwardsAuthor. In fact I don't even use the word writing in my everyday life. If I intend to go write I usually tell my wife, "I'm going to go spend some quality time with..."name of character from current book.""
Rob Edwards I am currently working on my next holiday novella, a New Years tale titled, "Life at Twenty-Four Frames Per Second."
Rob Edwards Exercise!
And when you do, make it vigorous.
Writing is a very sedentary activity and there's nothing worse for the body than not moving. There has been a huge rise over the last twenty years in sedentary cancers, (yes, just sitting there can cause cancer) so it's extremely imporatant to move. But beyond that, studies have shown that movement, getting the heart rate up and getting the blood flowing is extremely powerful for the brain. It helps wake you up, making you more focused so you can think clearly for longer periods of time.
It's very important to find that balance between sitting in the chair and running a 5k.
Rob Edwards The people!
Sounds weird since writing is such a solitary experience, but if you get involved in a writing community you will discover a group of enjoyable and encouraging individuals.
Rob Edwards I mow the lawn!
I can't tell you why this works. Perhaps it's the monotony of the movement and my brain has the opportunity to wander, but for whatever reason that is, hands down, my most creative time.
Rob Edwards The idea for my latest book came from a conversation with my wife. I was sitting in my office at lunch and we were talking over story ideas, and she came up with an intriging concept and literally challenged me to make a story out of it. I managed to come up with a vague story structure and we worked together to firm it up.
