I enjoyed the character Matthew "Bert" Bertram from my first book, and I wanted to write a good old fashioned spy thriller. Of course, my style is to create quirky characters, inject humor wherever possible, and let my characters take over. I was very interested in the case of John Walker, and his situation inspired me to create the character who was the evildoer in my book.

I make time to write every day, and try to be as disciplined as possible. Writing is work. Once I have a few sentences under my fingers, then my brain and my fingers take off!

I'm helping my sweetie market her new book right now. It's a great book for young adults entitled, "The Mountain Fog". I'll start on my third book in October. It's another "Sea Story" book in the Matthew Bertram series. This time, he'll be a bit more seasoned!

Write! Write! Write! Read! Read! Read! Good writers are good readers, and good writers only become such by writing. It a novel is too intimidating, start with a short story. The more you write, the better you'll get!

I've got several books for research that I'm reading. My next book will involve more NCIS, so I'm learning as much about their involvement both with the CIA in Vietnam and present day. I'm reading a book by Jack Lyndon Thomas
