Thanks, Dave. I spoke to someone at the New Westminster public library yesterday, and she said it had something to do with licensing at your end of things...? It's Greek to me!! With both of us making inquiries, we'll see what happens!

Dave Mason Sounds like a software issue between Amazon and Overdrive.

A little digging on the Overdrive site revealed this: "You can borrow Kindle Books from your library's OverDrive website, then read them on Kindle devices or Kindle reading apps. Note: Kindle Books are currently available for U.S. libraries only."

I only publish via Amazon/KDP so I guess that's a lock.

Thanks for your response, Dave. I did in fact make a specific request of my library for your book and this was the response I received: "Unfortunately, this title is not available for us to purchase in eBook and/or eAudiobook format. Please note that due to licensing decisions, publishers do not make all of their digital content available for purchase by Canadian libraries." Are they mistaken??

Dave Mason Well that's a mystery. My understanding is that licensing decisions are up to the publisher, and that would be me. I'll have to do some digging!

I'm wondering why you don't permit libraries to have e-copies of your books...? I have recommended your book to so many people; they are disappointed when they realize that they can't access e-copies.

Dave Mason Hi Janet.
My understanding is that libraries don't need explicit permission from authors to share ebooks they've legally acquired. There are no restrictions on my books, so I'm guessing a library would just have to acquire an ebook version and share it under normal first sale doctrine rules. Both books are available in print format in numerous libraries, so maybe it's a case of a patron putting in a specific request. Thanks so much for reading, and for recommending!! Cheers, Dave
