Writer’s block happens to me when I’m overwhelmed and attempt to force the issue by obstinately continuing to write under those conditions. Take a break, go for a walk, listen to music, relax. The setback is temporary and your proverbial juices will flow again, you have my word!

They best part of being a writer, for me, is the feeling that I’m a member of a literary fraternity of sorts. I’m part of a club that includes all the writers of yore and that’s an amazing feeling.

My advice for aspiring writers is to never stop writing. Disregard the naysayers with their negative energy and just keep pressing on.

I’m currently working on a book of five short stories, four of which are in relation to my first book, ‘Moving On.’ The first four stories will not only be somewhat of a prequel/sequel to its predecessor, but will also touch on social and moral dilemmas that we as a society endure. The fifth story will not be connected in any way to the others; it’s a stand alone tale of a young man who has misanthropic issues with a touch of narcissism and we have the good fortune to spend the day with him.

What most inspires me to write is reading! I love to read the classics; artists such as Bronte, Dickens, Wharton. Hemingway, and Salinger are just a few of my all time favorites.

The idea for ‘Moving On’ came to me when I was about seventeen years old. Growing up in the Bronx, New York, I had the misfortune of seeing many tragic stories involving drug use and alcoholism that didn’t always have a happy ending. I wanted to write a story about that struggle and how it can - with the will of the individual and some help with friends and family - be overcome.
