Step 1: Procrastinate
Step 2: Read really long, really difficult books on the subject until you need glasses.
Step 3: Repeat Step 1
Step 4: Make a layout, start writing. (Usually it's bad writing, stuff you can't use.)
Step 5: Edit your writing- Throw away lots of bad ideas and keep grinding.
Step 6: Make sure you obsess over obscure grammar to make it professional. Preferably something you will be criticized for, regardless of how correct you are.
