I try to prevent writer's block by taking one day a week away from all electronic devices. I will be honest this doesn't always work. During this time I'll spend hours in my sewing room quilting or I go for a drive through the countryside. It's here the creative (writing) juices are renewed and I then have more energy to give to my writing.

Many people say they would like to write a book or that they have a great story idea but they never follow through.
The best advice I can give for aspiring writers is:
1) Start writing.
2) Don't give up because you get a rejection letter.
3) Do your research, and
4) Take writing classes at your local college. Attend writer's workshops and conferences.

I realized they were a great jumping off point for my writing fiction. So, I combined my love of the West with characters I fell in love with.

When I attended a writers conference in 2013 one of the featured speakers sent out a challenge to attendees to write a book in 9 months. It had to be new and not a current work-in-progress (WIP). I took the challenge and while on vacation I wrote the first draft in a two-week period.
I love the South West, so I decided to use that as the place my story takes place.
