Don't give up. If an agent doesn't like your work, try another one. Write what you like. You should be your main audience. Don't force your work into someone else's mold, be true to you. Do fix grammar issues and plot holes, but ultimately, write something you'd like to read.

I don't know if "inspired" is the right word for me. I feel compelled. I have been an avid reader as soon as I learned to read, and have an active imagination. Writing my own stories was the next step.

I move on to a different project. This gives my brain time to process what I'm stuck on in the background. I also use others to bounce ideas off of. Simply talking out loud can help me see what does and doesn't work with a story.
