My book Merry Go Round is a romance, but oh boy, it's a romance with a difference.

Sarah Toll That's a fabulous question, to which there are a number of answers, so it might be tricky to chose which way to go with it. I think perhaps the recurring dream I had where the details were incredibly vivid. I dreamt about an hotel for months, if not years. It wasn't a place I had been to and yet it was real to me. I could feel the stone flags of the foyer under my feet. The pine staircase with its dark green fleur de lys patterned carpet and 1908's styled paint work; pale green above a dark pink and a pine dado rail. Nothing bad happened to me in the dream although I was given a choice as to which corridor I took to find my room. It was all very mysterious, as though there was a subliminal message there for me. Until that was, I found myself many years later in 'that' hotel. It was horrifying and profound all at the same time.

Thanks so much for asking :-D

Sarah Toll Life inspires me to write: what I see, experience, feel. Who I meet, who I care about, who I don't care about. I could go on...it's a wonderful thing to be able to create and be inspired.
Sarah Toll I'm currently working on my second novel, it's a story which runs parallel to Merry Go Round. Sadly, marketing and getting my newsletter and website is taking up rather a lot of my time - but by the same token it's making me a more rounded author, so it's time well spent
Sarah Toll Keep going. Write everything down and don't get weighed down as you go along, you never know when the stuff you don't like suddenly becomes gold dust
Sarah Toll Creating, manipulating, scheming...gosh, that makes me sound like such a nice person, doesn't it.

Also, hearing the feedback from people who have enjoyed my work. Knowing I have achieved what I set out to do, makes the whole thing worthwhile. It brings me immense joy.
Sarah Toll I take time out, give my brain the room to think and feel what it is that I need to write and then come back to my MacBook. Quite often this will be a few days at a time, which feels like a huge waste. In this time I'll free write about all sorts of nonsense that pops into my head, just as my fingers hit the keys
Sarah Toll The Bolivian, olive skinned and sweating, hung lifelessly from the tree; a witch hazel, the harbinger of spring, the signifier of life, not the host of untimely, wasted, wanton death. The squeak of the rope as it twisted in the breeze echoed in the muted forest air.
Sarah Toll I'd go to Discworld and enter the library! It'd be amazing fun!
Sarah Toll I'm reading Shantaram and Forever Amber and loving both of them. Shantaram is such a huge read and I find myself getting quite annoyed with the MC because so much has happened to him and so much has been reported in the book, but...I can't not read it! It's compelling.

I've read Forever Amber before and it seems quite poignant at the moment as it's reached the time of the plague. Touching and relatable stuff
