Donna Neumann I always had this story of Annie in my head and I always knew I wanted to write a book. However, as I watched current events in this year of COVID, Race riots and the lack of empathy for others, I knew it was time. I was crying remember growing up and not always fitting in, not because of the color of my skin, the language I spoke, or some disability, but because my family was considered "weird." I knew it was time, so I sat down and wrote about Annie.

I was inspired to write because I knew it was time to show a different viewpoint about traditions, belonging and caring.
Donna Neumann They say that children's books should be mirrors that the children can see themselves in. As a child, who never celebrated holidays I never saw a book that showed me. There are several books about Christmas. There are books about Hannukah, Easter, Kwanzaa and so on, but I never saw a book about that one child who didn't celebrate holidays. A child like me, and I knew there are children out their who are like me and I wanted to make sure there was a story for them.
