Jen Caruso I don't know that I'd call it writer's block, but if I'm struggling with where to go with a story, I step away from it for a bit. We all lead busy lives and have other things to do, think about, and people or animals to care for. Taking time away from a writing project, even if it's just a day or so can sometimes help. Forcing it never works for me. Plus, I think that although I may be away from it, my brain is still working on it. It's just not in the forefront of thought at that time.
Jen Caruso I'm currently working on a modern-day romance, more details to come!
Jen Caruso Just write. Just do it. Get all your thoughts out on paper, then go back and refine, re-write. No one can tell a story the way you can.
Jen Caruso I taught middle school history for a few years. In one of the textbooks, there was a blurb about The Lost Colony of Roanoke, a paragraph. I found it intriguing and searched quite a few non-fiction books on the subject. A story began taking shape in my head. It's been worked and re-worked several times, put down, put away, etc. Until I decided to pick it up again, re-write, and there you have it.
