I type the final words of my story and skim through the four hundred page document I'd just completed. Before I can hit save, I wake up.

Not that I'd survive long, but Middle Earth. I would love to get a cool sword, hunt some orc with the Fellowship and explore every place I could get to. Then, if I survived long enough, I'd go live in Lothlorien with the elves.

First, be patient. Finding what works for you can take time but once you find it, writing can be much easier.
Second, learn to not compare yourself to other authors. By comparing myself to other authors I enjoyed reading, Into the Darkness's publishing date was delayed by almost six months. It's such a hard thing to do and can take time, but it's worth it.
Third, surround yourself with people who will help you. Not just by being nice, but also by giving constructive criticism. I found a writing group that has kept me motivated while also helping me to improve my writing.

Inspiration comes from all sorts of places, from dreams, people I see, and things from other movies and books I would change. Usually though, it comes from a quote, sentence or even a song lyric that I think would turn into an interesting story.

The book I'm working on right now, the sequel to Into the Darkness, was originally an entirely different book, but the ideas worked with what I already had, so I combined it with Into the Darkness to create the Mind Games series.

I have three different projects, and when I get stuck on one, I move to another. I also like to do writing sprints to keep me motivated.

I love being able to read my finished products, and see how far I've come with the story and characters. Second to that is being able to get rid of tropes in movies in books that I hate, and using those I like.
