(view spoiler)[I used to code in SQL, a database language. Surprisingly, most programmers have Writer’s Block, just like book writers. The rule of thumb was to walk away for a while or sleep on it. Then later, I’d get fresh insights and be better at developing codes that worked.
Now, as a book writer, I’d go ice skating or swimming to have my brain focus on other parts. Plus, I get to exercise!

Free travel and new friends!
I get to learn about unfamiliar places and be the creator of new people, especially those I did not plan to see in the beginning - sometimes, characters pop up as I write, and I get to meet them! Now, I have unexpected new friends.
I also learn about the places I am not able to visit. Of course, many authors visit the places we will write about, but sometimes, it is impossible, especially in fantasy. Plus, it costs a lot of money depending on where we want to go - I set my next book in a desert in Africa.
I love learning about it while researching and mixing it with my endless imagination.

(view spoiler)[Don't get caught up following all the advice from webinars, workshops, and conferences. I, indeed, took many courses and learned good things from them. Those are helpful, but it is essential to focus on your style. Being authentic and finding your voice should be the ultimate goal of each writer. (hide spoiler)]

I read many books and watch documentaries/movies, even visit the place if I am able, to learn about the location, people, animals, and culture I want to write about. So, yes, it is the research phase.
Once I absolve all the information, I close my eyes and start imagining. I tend to have fun with this process during my writer's block.

A prequel to The Last Circus but with more fictitious characters. The story is set in the desert. I plan to publish it before the fall of 2023.
