I’m sorry you took offense at my review. I always give my honest opinion and even when I don’t like a book or find the writing is not up to snuff, I will still try to be as nice as possible. The reason I picked up your book in the first place was because of the article in the Deland Beacon. Many years ago, there was a writer’s group in Deland that I was a part of, but since then I have not come across very many local writers. Local writers, I think should support each other so I read your book. Of course, I was hoping to like it and I would have much rather been able to give it 5 stars. As I said in the review, I don’t have a problem with the plot per se, it’s just that the writing is rough draft and really needs to be fixed. I also read the other reviews and as you know, I wasn’t the only one who mentioned that the book needs editing. You can always discard one review as an anomaly, but when several people are saying the same thing, you should take it as constructive criticism. I do applaud you for writing a full-length novel as I have been working on one for years and know how hard it is.
Incidentally, I did notice your response to my review in the one you left for Kid’s Word Cookbook. Was that not perhaps “malicious” in that you weren’t really reviewing the book, but rather my review of your book?
Amazon does allow you to make changes to your book and then republish it after it has initially been published. If you decide you want to do that, I would be happy to read it again and place another review if they allow it.
Look - I don’t want you to be mad at me. I would rather be friends. Hopefully, that will be the case.
