Hannah Mason Can I go to my own? I would so like to meet my own characters and explore my own land. Both because I have created a place I would like to visit and because if I did visit it would make it easier to write.
Hannah Mason So much. Twists on "Beauty and the Beast" to inspire my next novel "The Beauty" and books that agents I plan to query have repped. So "Rebel Rose" "Phantom of the Opera" "Beastly" "The Hazel Wood" and more.
Hannah Mason I usually deal with it one of two ways (somewhat depending on the project, timeline, and situation).
1. I search for inspiration around me or on Pinterest. If I am struggling to find ideas that excite me, it is sometimes important that I take a break and find some inspiration.
2. I switch projects. I have a lot of different projects going on at once most often. This book has been one project but I am also working on my fairytale twist project and often a school paper or something else in the mix. Sometimes even switching to a brainstorming project like map making, describing my characters, rearranging my poems, or creating the government of a kingdom sends away the writer's block.
Hannah Mason I still feel I am an aspiring writer myself so I don't know how qualified I am to answer this question. I have been trying to publish a novel since I was 12 and love writing poetry as well. I think my advice would be to write what you love and never stop writing. When your writing is your passion, it inspires others and when you keep pushing on even when it gets difficult, you can know you will get there eventually.
Hannah Mason I have been working on a twist on fairy tale series which I will call "Once Upon a Tome" for about 4-5 years now. I am really getting to love and know the characters and the storyline. I have finished the first book in the series, a twist on Goldilocks called "The Criminal" and am now working on the second draft. I believe rewriting some of the plot will allow me to get to where I need to be for publishing via agent and publisher.
Hannah Mason In terms of poetry...a lot of ways. I take inspiration from my life and my life events (mentioned in the book). I also take inspiration from the Bible and my personal relationship with Christ. And I take inspiration from Pinterest and the world around me. A number of the poems were written in the strangest of places including "Ode to Magnolia" which was mostly composed while standing in the cold waiting to take drive through order when I worked at In N Out.
Hannah Mason A number of my poems were published in rarely seen anthologies and for every contest I entered, another poem was published. I finally decided it was better to publish my own anthology and to share my poems with as many people as I could.
