Melody E. McIntyre When the pieces of the story come together and you can see it.
Melody E. McIntyre Don't spend years just writing unfinished novels. Try short stories, novellas, drabbles, flash fiction. Really try it. I spent too long thinking of myself as unable to write shorts. Now I'm doing it all the time.
Melody E. McIntyre More dark short stories!

I am also about to start a new novella/novel-length work. It's a thriller inspired by the trope where the villain asks the hero to choose between saving a loved one and saving a whole group of people. Inevitably, the hero always saves both. Melody E. McIntyre I'm going to answer regarding my short story "The Client" in Little Demon Digest 1:

I used to work at a local law firm. One day I had to go into my lawyer's office to use his notary stamp when he wasn't there. The room was dark and a bit unsettling. I also had to sometimes go into that office to witness wills and collect papers. This idea started to swirl around in my head until the story "The Client" came out.
