Best thing you can do is just read other books similar to your genre, write, and read your work over, especially if you take a bit between the stages of this process. Figuring out what you didn't like in your own work before is the first step to figuring out how you could do it better, and looking at others' work simply makes it easier to develop a sense for the material, phrasing, subjects, and language you want to avoid in your own work.
