I'd love to be in J.K. Rowling's world, studying to be a witch with healing powers. Hogwarts was so finely drawn, who wouldn't want to be a student there.

Fires fueled by winds swept over the hills into my valley. The vineyards in all their fall splendor didn't survive and a tiny corner of my soul died.

I received an Amazon gift card for Mothers' Day to buy books. So far I have these on my list: A Conspiracy in Belgravia by Sherry Thomas; The Day of the Duchess by Sarah MacLean; and The Girl with the Make Believe Husband by Julia Quinn. My first Regency, Scandal's Child, will be out soon and I'm boning up on Regency period vocabulary.

Two years ago my spouse took me on a five thousand mile journey in a small boat. The mystery was I survived. I was afraid of choppy seas, I can't swim, and I left my family, friends, pets, and an active volunteer life behind. It took eight months, but at the end I was a good deal calmer and am now able to get on the boat without palpitations. Chocolate helped. The journey and how I adapted and changed is book worthy.

My most recent book, You Were Mine at Merlot, is about second chances, maturing, and coming to grips with what's important in life. My characters are in their '20s and they're still finding out who they are and what they want. Most of us can relate. We were in their shoes once.
This is a romance with a little bit of suspense thrown in and I have to admit the opening scenes were right out of my local newspaper.

I don't wait for inspiration. I try to get up at 5 a.m. and work until noon every day. When I had a day job I got up at 5 a.m. and wrote until time to go to work. By now you know I'm a morning person.

I have several projects in the works. I have book four in my Love in Wine Country series currently in edits. I have two early California historical romances looking for a home, and I am reworking the plot on my Regency Romance.

Hone your craft by reading craft books, attending seminars, or taking on-line classes. Write as often as you can. When you've finished a work, enter contests in your genre if the sponsors give feedback. Most of all...don't give up.

Writers can live their lives over and over again through the eyes and insights of their characters. Romance writers have it best...we can fall in love many times.

I write about why I might be having writer's block. Funny, but it goes away then.
