Brainstorming with my 14 year old son is the best cure for writer's block. As silly as this sounds, I can tell him what my "issue" is and within a few minutes of talking to him - I start getting ideas. He will come through with a clutch joke or sarcastic comment and 9 times out of 10, it will be just the joke I need to get my butt in gear and the story starts to come to life in my head.
It also helps for me to take a break, walk away for an hour or so, then come back and READ the previous few sections of my story (or sometimes I'll read the first two chapters to remember what started me on the book's path to begin with). Often once I start re-reading, I get all the inspiration I need to overcome my block. If that fails, I'll go talk to my son again or pet a cat or ten.

Inspiration comes in many forms. Sometimes I can hear a funny joke or see a meme on social media and suddenly an entire story starts to unfold in my mind. Or, I might have an idea for a main character, but not sure what their story is - so I start brainstorming from there. Wine and margaritas always help. I also love to read swoony steamy love stories and that always gets me in the mood to tell the stories swirling around in my head.

I loved writing my first book (Love & Other Chaos) so much I just couldn't stand the thought of leaving that world forever. The characters are so funny and several of them have their own stories they want me to tell. So, I decided to make it a series of stand-alone novels, all of which will be set in the same world. I'm currently working on book two: Love & Other Mistakes. I'm about 70% finished with the first draft and hope to have it out in January 2021. It's an opposites attract, one-night-stand story with a HEA. The Amos family will be back to give you giggle fits, tons of "awww sweet" moments, and hilarious adventures in love and misunderstandings. So far, I'm loving the story so much and can't wait to share it with everyone. I have ideas for three more Amos family stories after this - for a potential total of 5 books from this world. Who knows if more will come after that! Time will only tell. :)
