(view spoiler)[A combination of places.
1) Stargate SG-1 and Egyptian mythology inspired my science fiction story. I liked how Stargate SG-1 tied Norse and Egyptian mythology into their science fiction narrative. I thought it'd be interesting if some of the aliens in Aliens Among the Stars were the gods and myths throughout history in various countries. After that, my story took off from there and took on a life of its own.
I thought it'd be interesting to write a story between the forces of good and evil, like Bast and Apophis in Egyptian mythology. I built my first two alien species from there.
My series does have Atlanteans like in Stargate, but they don't look the same, and their culture is completely different. Old and ancient races are not unique to Stargate actually. They're pretty common in science fiction.
Oh, I might be saying too much! You'll have to read my books to find out what I'm talking about.
2) Spoiler alert for something that happens in The Expeditionary Force Series below.
I originally wanted to write a short choose-your-own adventure text game for Choice of Games. I didn't know anything about coding so an author friend suggested I write a short story. That short story idea had to do with a spaceship with a dead alien in it, that was underneath the main character's house. The spaceship would be encased in a bubble of time, in which time moved differently inside and outside the spaceship. Actually the bubble idea came from Craig Alanson's Expeditionary Force Series.
3) I also get a bit of influence from Greek mythology and some conspiracy theories. I can't tell you too much right now but rest assured, my series are indeed science fiction. Mythology doesn't play a huge role in the science in my book. It's just some of the inspiration I had. (hide spoiler)]
