Stephen Alder I was reading a book about the Celts and was intrigued by a picture of Ogmios, who had chains coming out of his mouth that are attached to the ears of his followers, personifying the power of persuasive speech. He literally had a captive audience. Then I dreamed about an old man whose recitations evoked such intense imagery in his listeners that it become virtual reality in front of them.
Stephen Alder I am working on the second book in the series that began with Deehabta's Song.
Stephen Alder I have occasionally tried to plow through a tough spot in a writing job when I feel compelled to meet a deadline. Sometimes when I press against the wall I can break through it. But that is exhausting. I usually switch to another section or part of the story where I have a better flow. When I switch back to the tough spot, I can see it with a fresh perspective and this helps trigger the creativity.
