Elliott Scott You'll be stuck in the fast lane behind that car for all eternity. They'll be going ten under the limit, and their left blinker will be on for no reason.
Elliott Scott Learning new things inspires me. I love to read about new technologies and imagine how they would fit in a fictional setting. I truly think we are living in the future.

No one is going to admit it until everything including our pens and shoes are hovering above the ground at rest though.
Elliott Scott A lot of my works start out as dreams. I'm an avid lucid dreamer and I'm consistently shocked by what comes out of my own personal holodeck brain dreamscape. Strong images hit me very frequently.

I'm also heavily inspired by technology in modern culture. We're alive in such an unprecedented time. It's truly remarkable.
Elliott Scott I'm working on editing the sequel to my debut novel, and also polishing up some short stories. Soon I'll be taking a stab at an audiobook too.
Elliott Scott There's some great books out there, but everyone talks about them. Get an egg timer and set it for 30 minutes and just let loose. Don't worry about what you're writing or how good it is: just go.

A fun exercise I do before writing sometimes is a "kill the editor voice" activity. I write a scene in which my editing brain gets personified as a character. Then I let that character say whatever they want on the page. Once they get a few words out I throw them off a building or hit them with a bus.

After doing this a number of times the "editing brain" stopped showing up for some reason during my creative sessions.

I can't imagine why.

Give it a shot. It's a nice little warm up exercise.
Elliott Scott I love telling stories. In real life I'm a bit of a chatterbox--alright really, a huge one--and have to balance between listening and speaking with people. With writing I can just firehose my brain out onto the page. Very liberating.
Elliott Scott I put on an egg timer for 45 minutes and just go go go. To me there's nothing more thrilling than seeing those pages or words stack up. Even if you don't end up using it, you've broken through that block. You also get to work on your craft. Plus, writing itself is really fun. Wins all around.
