When I returned to California after living in China for five year, I loved to retell stories of my time there to all my friends and family. Eight out of ten times, someone would say, "You should write about book about that."
My time in China was great for storytelling, but those first five years back in the State, I was still processing the experiences. Once I reached the point where I felt I could tell a story with humor and grace, I got to work on my laptop telling my story of UNBOUND FEET: Finding Freedom in Communist China.

The first books I remember reading as a kid were The Chronicles of Narnia. I've read them several times since, and each time the worlds come alive. The series allows me to "cheat" on visiting places because I could see England and Narnia. England is on my real-life bucket list.
